Village motorists are being warned to expect further hold-ups and disruption in the coming weeks; both as contractors carry out various highway works and festive events begin in Ruddington.
First up, this Monday and Tuesday (31st October & 1st November) there will be two-way traffic lights on Loughborough Road south of the Mere Way/Yarrow Drive Roundabout as improvements are made to the footpath there. Some delays are likely.
Then, the work which was scheduled to take place on High Street last week is now due to happen this week instead, after being postponed due to the wet weather. From Tuesday 1st November until Friday 4th November between 9.00am and 3.30pm each day you can expect 3-way temporary ‘Stop and Go’ boards controlling traffic through our village centre as road markings are refreshed.
Two-way temporary lights return to Kirk Lane over the weekends of 5th & 6th November and 12th & 13th November as Severn Trent continues its water pipe renewal work in the carriageway.
Looking ahead to December, we’re being warned that this year’s Ruddington Christmas Market will have even more of an impact on traffic than previously because there will be extra stalls along Church Street, as well as along High Street. This will mean the closure of High Street – from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Kirk Lane – and of Church Street – from its junction with High Street to its junction with Vicarage Lane – between 0:00hrs and 22:00hrs on Saturday 3rd December 2022. The alternative routes for drivers will be: Westbound – Church Street to Parkyns Street and vice versa. Eastbound – Easthorpe Street to Loughborough Road to Kirk Lane and vice versa, as shown below.
Residents and visitors should also anticipate delays and route changes for bus passengers using Kinchbus 9, Nottingham City Transport’s Navy 3 & Green 10C/10X Rushcliffe Country Park/Ruddington Fields buses and the NottsBus Connect Service 863, during these village roadworks and the Christmas event.
